Paris Photo 2021: rendez-vous from November 11 to 14 at the Grand Palais Éphémère.
The international photography fair returns for its 24th edition.
Galerie La Forest Divonne will present a solo show by Elsa & Johanna, “Find the Truth”, a set of unpublished photographs, selected for the Prix Découverte Louis Roederer 2020, which should have been exhibited at the Rencontres d’Arles 2020. These 16 photographs, hung in scattered order on the walls of the stand, invite visitors to construct their own narrative through the multiple scenarios imagined by the two artists. A fragmentary and multiple vision inspired by the North American suburbs.
Elsa and Johanna do not unfold a narrative as one would read a book, from left to right, from top to bottom. The exhibition “Find the truth” twists a linear reading into multiple scenarios. The arrangement of the frames allows each reading to slide between the photographs in contrary diagonals, and to grasp the intersecting stories. The quest for truth is revealed in the meeting of Elsa and Johanna’s approach, the fate of their multiple identities, and the clues that each visitor comes to seek.
