Solo show
Opening
Thursday 23 October 2025

From 23 October to 20 December 2025, Galerie La Forest Divonne will present a solo exhibition of works by French painter Guy de Malherbe, which will be marked by the publication of a major monograph dedicated to him by Skira Publishing.

Entitled ‘Dans les Roches traversées’ (Through the Rocks), this exhibition will bring together some thirty recent paintings, from the most monumental to the most intimate, from large landscapes to mythological figures such as Lucretia and Ophelia. The exhibition will provide an overview of the artist’s universe, as revealed in the monograph accompanying the exhibition: 184 pages and more than a hundred reproductions, covering Guy de Malherbe’s paintings from the last fifteen years, accompanied by two critical essays, one by Cyrille Sciama, Director of the Musée des Impressionnistes in Giverny, and the other by Pierre Wat, art historian, critic and exhibition curator, recently author of the major exhibition Nicolas de Staël at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.

In his preface, Olivier Kaeppelin, exhibition curator and art critic, former director of the Maeght Foundation, writes that ‘Looking at Guy de Malherbe’s works is like sensing a secret that reveals itself indirectly.’ The exhibition invites visitors to traverse the rock of Malherbe’s landscapes to share in this universe revealed by painting, where the emotion of colour and matter mingles with the unconscious and dreams.
