For several years, Guy de Malherbe has been physically experimenting with the steep landscape of the French coast to invent his own pictorial language. It is this striking landscape, constantly modified by the sea, the wind and the scree that triggered the series of paintings exhibited by the Gallery La Forest Divonne in Brussels. The imposing cliffs of white chalk dominate the whole recent period, with a touch always liberated and vibrant, and an abundance characteristic of rocks, sometimes anthropomorphic, sometimes similar to a great fire or the casting of a volcano.
