Galerie La Forest Divonne Brussels is delighted to present a Solo Show by Belgian artist Gerard Kuijpers, in its Project Room space, from Thursday June 5, 2025.
Gerard Kuijpers is a self-taught genius, a force of nature who single-handedly manipulates marble blocks weighing several hundred kilos, making their weight his best ally. Kuijpers has an intuition for material: its mass, its resistance and its point of balance. He knows how to combine metal and stone, combining their strengths to create unique pieces that reveal the telluric force of boulders while defying everything we thought we knew about gravity and physics.
With his creations, which he calls Dancing stones, Kuijpers reveals the eternity contained in a block of marble, and awakens in us the geological memory that links man to the universe. It gives us the irrepressible urge to touch this stone, cold and powerful, testimony to millions of years of life and movement of the earth. The sight of his stones exudes an impression of serenity, balance and eternity, the same quiet strength that emanates from the artist himself.
