For Art Paris 2023, Galerie La Forest Divonne proposes an exceptional solo show by Vincent Bioulès under the watchful eye of Catherine Millet, founder and editor-in-chief of Art Press, who has been following Bioulès’ work since the beginning.
While the Centre Pompidou recently completed its collection of this emblematic french painter with the acquisition of a monumental canvas by the artist, placed at the entrance of the museum’s permanent collections, the gallery exceptionally brings together for the fair historical paintings by the painter, from the 1970s to the present day, from Support – Surface to the making of what has become the Bioulès style, a personal blend of knowledge, pleasure, matter and colour. «I wouldn’t be painting the way I do today without the experience of abstraction,» he says readily.
These historical paintings (abstractions, nudes, portraits, history paintings) will be set along recent creations in which Bioulès revisits the key subjects of his career as an artist in his own way and with his own eye.
On this occasion, Galerie La Forest Divonne is publishing a catalogue in which these works will be the subject of a critical text written by Catherine Millet.
