La Forest Divonne Gallery is very pleased to present Regina BOGAT, Lynn UMLAUF and Merrill WAGNER, 3 New York artists, in collaboration with the Zürcher Gallery, New York / Paris who represents their work. These three artists have been ignored in the USA until recently because the times were generally unsuitable for the recognition of women artists, and because they have each lived in the shadow of their husband, recognized artist or in the process of being. Regina BOGAT (born 1928 in NY) married in 1963 one of Mark ROTHKO’s best friends, the painter Alfred JENSEN (died in 1981), Lynn UMLAUF (born 1942 in Austin, TX) was the wife of painter Michael GOLDBERG (died 2013). As for Merrill WAGNER (born in 1935 in Seattle) she lives with Robert RYMAN, great figure of American minimalism. These three artists are currently undergoing a rediscovery and a new appreciation of their work with several American institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Jewish Museum, the Whitney Museum and the Blanton Museum of Art , Austin, TX. They have in common an artistic practice turned towards abstraction.
