Illés Sarkantyu – Chambre noire, toile blanche
off-site
Through the exhibition Chambre noire, toile blanche, the Musée d’art moderne de Fontevraud explores the close relationship photography has maintained with painting since its invention, highlighting the reciprocal influences and ongoing dialogue between the two mediums. Bringing together historical and contemporary artists, the exhibition favors sensitive and formal correspondences over an encyclopedic approach, with an installation conceived in resonance with the spaces of the museum and the abbey.
Among the invited artists, Illés Sarkantyu presents a work that subtly questions the boundaries between the photographic image and the pictorial surface. His practice, distinguished by a particular attention to materiality, light, and the construction of vision, fully engages with this reflection on the porous relationship between photography and painting, between visual memory and contemporary perception.
