Alexandre Hollan “Pays-âges”, at Musée de Lodève

off-site

Whether as an everyday backdrop or a space for contemplation, the landscape is both omnipresent and invisible. Yet it remains a major political and sociological issue. Photographers take to the land in an attempt to capture new facets of a landscape in transformation. How can we reconcile the landscape – a figure of permanence, shaped over the ages by man and nature – with the photographic act, which seems to be linked to instantaneity?

The exhibition “Pays-âges” presents a cross-section of contemporary photographers, video artists and visual artists, sharing their perceptions of the landscape.

To mark the 50th anniversary of Lac du Salagou, one room of the exhibition will be devoted to the photographs of Georges Souche, best known for his magical pictures of the lake.
