ALEXANDRE HOLLAN : ABBAYE DE L’ESCALADIEU

The desire to showcase the greenery of the Escaladieu Abbey, classified as a “remarkable tree complex”, gave rise to the idea of an exhibition on the theme of trees.

Faced with this inexhaustible source of inspiration, the invited artists express their fascination for this emblematic plant figure and highlight the essential aspects of the tree, the visible and the invisible. Paintings, drawings, sculptures, photos, video and landscape installations offer an insight into every aspect of the plant.

Far from passive contemplation, these artists also challenge us about the relationship we have with our natural environment, and raise our awareness of ecological poetics.
