VOLTA BASEL 2019

10 Juin - 15 Juin 2019
Foire

The visitor will be immersed in David Décamp’s singular world, both troubling and humouristic. Décamp has spent part of his life in the Jura, not far away from Basel, as a forestry worker. He is a self-taught artist, close to Art Brut, and nourished with a kind of surrealistic dark humour. It is a work accident that brought Décamp, 10 years ago, to dive into his artistic practice – curative in the first place. The materials he uses often have an autobiographical meaning : wood, lead, bones, like felt and fat in Beuys’ œuvre. While exorcizing his own life, Décamp bares a universal message : that of the urge to change Man’s poisonous relationship to Nature.
