Une Place à l’ombre

06 Nov - 13 Dec 2025
Solo show
Opening
Thursday 06 November 2025

Arthur Aillaud unveils a new series of paintings at Galerie La Forest Divonne, Paris, starting November 6. This is a major event for the artist, who hasn’t exhibited at the gallery since 2021.

This new series was born in the spacious environment of his new studio, located an hour from Paris. True to his usual method, Arthur Aillaud begins his compositions with photographs gathered from the internet. This time, his inspiration comes from images found in real estate listings landscapes and houses for sale in Greece. Greece, a country where he spent his childhood holidays with his family, becomes here an intimate and symbolic territory. Aillaud casts an affectionate gaze over these landscapes, while also exploring universal themes such as the relationship between humans and nature, and their vital interdependence today, as well as humanity’s place in its environment.

Arthur Aillaud’s work is rooted in the legacy of his father, Gilles Aillaud, with whom he discovered painting. Yet he frees himself from the strict codes of narrative figuration, fully establishing his place within the revival of figurative painting in France and beyond.
