Galerie La Forest Divonne Brussels is pleased to exhibit recent works by Rachel Labastie from September 17 to October 11, in parallel with her solo exhibition Loom of the Land in the greenhouses of the Botanique in Brussels (September 4 to October 26, 2025).
A sculptor and performer, Rachel works with ceramics, weaving, raw clay, and even ashes. Her artistic practice pursues the search for a profound truth about humanity, sometimes buried under the weight of history.
For the exhibition “Enfoui, tissé, révélé” (Buried, Woven, Revealed), she presents a collection of “Clous de Fondation” (Foundation Nails) : ceramics inspired by objects buried in Mesopotamia 3,000 years before our era. Covered with poetic texts, these sculptures by Rachel Labastie serve as totems—tributes to creators, builders, caregivers—those who work in the shadows, for others and for the future. They will engage in a dialogue with “les scènes d’intérieur”, a series of tapestries through which Labastie reveals the part of nature buried within our bodies, like a wild forest. Through her works, Rachel Labastie conducts a form of human archaeology: she brings to light the poetic or wild part that only art allows us to feel.
